Wine Into Water – book review

Book: Wine Into Water: A Pastor Stephen Grant Novel
By: Ray Keating
275 pages
Paperback

Wine into Water is the sixth Pastor Stephen Grant novel pinned by Ray Keating. Along with Grant, many of the characters that have appeared in earlier novels return, including clergy friends, old associates from Grant’s days in the CIA and Grant’s wife, Jennifer. The advantage of this for those who read the series is that Keating does not have to develop the characters fresh and so can spend more time in developing the plot. In this book, everything case-wise revolves around the wine industry, especially the illegal trade in counterfeit expensive wines. The book contains the now expected action as well as reflection on a spiritual truth, in this case, forgiveness.

Kirkus Reviews writes, “A first-rate mystery makes this a series standout, even if the titular protagonist splits his hero status with others.” I agree. Open a bottle of your favorite wine, sit back, and enjoy.

Blessings in Christ,
Pastor Rickert
